Cresson, PA - The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team fell by a final score of 64-63 to visiting Hilbert College on Saturday afternoon in conference action. The Mounties are the #2 seed for the upcoming conference tournament and will play next Saturday at Hilbert College against an opponent to be determined.
The Mounties trailed by 11 heading into the fourth quarter before rallying with strong defensive pressure. Mount Aloysius cut the lead to 54-49 with 6:31 to play when
Abby Kulick drained a three-point shot, then
Katie Bracken stole the ball and scored to cut the Hilbert lead to three. The Hawks held a slight edge until Kulick hit another shot from behind the arc with 2:29 to go to give the Mounties a 61-60 advantage.
The Hawks responded to lead 64-61 before
Alexia Servello hit a layup with 1:31 on the clock to cut the Hilbert lead to one. Both sides failed to score on their next possession before the Mounties stole the ball with nine seconds left, but Bracken just missed a layup and the Hawks escaped with the win.
Jessa Wright scored 23 points to lead the Mounties offensively while adding six rebounds. Bracken had a double-double effort of 10 points and 10 rebounds, and Kulick added nine points and four rebounds. Servello chipped in with five points, seven rebounds and four assists.
The Mounties conclude the regular season with a 16-7 overall record and 14-4 conference record.Â
