Mounties Struggle Against Wilkes University

Myrtle Beach, SC- After a quick turnaround from last night's game, the Mount Aloysius Baseball team lost to Wilkes University 11-0 on Monday. 

Tristan Gelvin started the game for the Mounties and gave up five runs, four of them earned on five hits and a walk in two innings. Douglas Cannon guided the Mounties through 4 and 2/3 innings. Cannon held Wilkes fairly quiet for the first four innings but ran into trouble in the 7th, giving up three of his five runs. Freshman Austin Steedle looked good in his first appearance in Mountie pinstripes, giving up one unearned run in 2 and 1/3 innings while striking out two. 

Offensively Mount Aloysius collected five hits, all of them coming after a Nicholas Belka single in the 5th. Dalton Garlock finished as the only Mountie with multiple hits. Junior Trevor Miller added a line drive single to right in his pinch hit appearance in the 8th. 

The Mounties will attempt to end their early season slide tomorrow when they face off with Penn College at 3:30 PM.
