Mount Aloysius Women's Soccer Wins Season Opener

Williamsport, PA- The Mount Aloysius Women's Soccer team got off to a strong start to their 2018 season, defeating Lycoming College 3-0.

Freshman midfielder Kourtney Walls opened up her Mount Aloysius account on the opening day with two goals in the contest. Walls started off the scoring in the 8th minute. She knocked home a cross from Brianna Byler to give the Mounties the 1-0 lead. She scored her brace early in the second half. She sent a heat seeking shot over the outstretched arm of the Lycoming keeper to give the Mounties the 3-0 lead.

Junior Katie Mirance scored the second goal for the Mounties, just minutes after Walls had put them ahead. She took a pass from Amanda Brancato, beat the keeper and slid the ball into the goal giving the Mounties an early 2 goal advantage. Mirance totaled 5 shots in the game, with 3 of them finishing on frame.

Freshman Lauren Davey had a strong debut in goal for the Mounties as well. She finished with 10 saves, recording a shutout in her first appearance in a Mountie uniform.

Commenting on the win, Head Coach Matt Davis said, "We had a great team defensive performance all the way through, and Lauren stepped up with some big stops. Offensively, I thought our movement was very good for the first game of the season."

Mount Aloysius (1-0) will make their home debut tomorrow. They will host Hood College at the Soccer field, starting at 2:00 PM
