Mountie Women Draw Against Waynesburg

Cresson, PA- The Mount Aloysius Soccer team recorded a hard luck tie on Saturday against Waynesburg University on Saturday. The two teams split four goals evenly, with all of them coming in the first half.

Kourtney Walls started the scoring for Mount Aloysius in the 3rd minute. Sam Torrenti played a curved through ball behind the defense for Wall to run on to down the right flank. Walls collected the ball and ripped a shot to the far post. The shot went off the post and into the back of the net to put the Mounties up 1. The Mountie lead did not last long as Waynesburg was able to level off of a free kick at the 7 minute mark.

Mount Aloysius regained the lead in the 20th minute. While attacking in the Waynesburg box, the Mounties drew a foul and were awarded a penalty kick. Defender Summer Schell stepped up and slotted the penalty kick home for her third goal of the season. Waynesburg was able to level the score again about 10 minutes later on a long curled shot that just went over the outstretched hands of goalkeeper Lauren Davey.

Mount Aloysius dominated the second half and overtimes but were unable to score to win the match. They tallied 16 shots in the last 65 minutes of play compared to only 2 from Waynesburg.

The Mounties record stands at 6-0-1 . They are scheduled to take on Wilson College on Tuesday and will begin their conference schedule on Saturday when they host Pitt-Bradford.
