Mahwah, NJ- The Mount Aloysius Volleyball team traveled to Mahwah NJ this weekend to play in the Roadrunner Invitational. The Mounties played four matches while in New Jersey, winning two and losing two.
On Friday evening the Mounties started competition against Penn State Harrisburg, The Mounties lost the match 3 sets to 1, with each set being a close hard fought matchup. In the three sets the Mounties fell, two of them went over the normal 2 points.
Sarah Fisher led the Mounties in the match with 11 kills.
Jessica Bressler and
Emma Pevarnik both had over 15 assists in the match, with 18 and 16 assists respectively.
Kylee Clawson collected 21 digs in the match.
Mount Aloysius came right back after the loss and took on the host of the tournament. The Mounties lost the first set, but were able to comeback and win the next three to win the match. The Mounties used a balanced offensive attack in the match as 4 different Mounties,
Machala Gibbons, Pevarni, Fisher and
Ashlee Parrish, finished with 8 kills.
Macy King finished just behind the group finishing with 7 kills on 15 attacks. Bressler and Pevarnik both had big matches again finishing with 23 and 20 assists. Defensively Clawson collected 32 digs while Gibbons chipped in 19.
The Mounties started off day two of the invitational with a 3-0 victory over Bard College. Parrish led the way ont he attack, picking up 7 kills on 14 attacks. Bressler led the match with 18 assists while Clawson led the defense with 14 digs. After 3 matches in less than 24 hours the Mounties struggled in their final match, losing to New Paltz 3 sets to 0. Parrish led the Mounties in kills again, tallying 10 in the match.
The Mounties record now sits at 5-7. They have two more non conference matches this week, before heading to Bradford Pa to play in the AMCC opening quad match.
