Cresson, PA- Ranked as the 8th best team in the Great Lakes Region, the Mount Aloysius Women's Soccer team defeated LaRoche College 2-0 on Tuesday night.

After a quiet first half, the Mounties were able to score both goals in the second frame to earn the win. Freshman Goalkeeper Lauren Davey made 2 saves in the first half to keep the game scoreless, and then 6 more in the second half to preserve the shutout. The game was Lauren's 8th win of season and her 4th shutout. Her wins and shutouts both lead the AMCC with the win total doubling the nearest competitor.

Senior forward Cheyenne Kuncher followed up her hat trick performance on Saturday with the opening goal for the Mounties. Less than three minutes after the break Kuncher ran onto the ball on the left flank, cut back towards the edge of the 18 yard box and let loose a shot that finished in the right upper corner. The goal was Cheyenne's 7th of year.

Kuncher also picked up an assist on the second Mountie goal. She picked up the ball around midfield and sent a long pass behind the LaRoche defensive line. Junior Katie Mirance sprinted behind the defense, and onto the ball. With her first touch Mirance was able to push the ball beyond the onrushing keeper, and then calmly slide a shot into the open net. The goal was Mirance's second of the season. 

The win moves the Mounties to 8-0-1 on the season. They will travel to Buffalo, NY over the weekend to take on conference foe Medaille College.
