Buffalo, NY - The Mount Aloysius women's soccer team improved to 9-0-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play with a 3-0 shutout victory over host Medaille College on Saturday afternoon.
Maddie Doyle got the Mounties off to a quick start offensively with her first goal of the season four minutes into the game. Doyle took a pass and took a touch to her right before slotting home a shot into the far corner of the goal to make it 1-0 in favor of Mount Aloysius. The Mounties outshot Medaille 9-0 in the opening half and entered halftime up 2-0 after
Cayla Aquino took a cross from
Jenna Gardner and ripped home a volley for her first career goal with eight minutes left in the half.
Mount Aloysius kept firing to open the second half and
Cheyenne Kuncher notched her eighth goal of the season just over 8 minutes into the second period of play. A Mountie cross got through the box and Kuncher beat the Medaille keeper to the ball before lofting a shot over the defense and into the back of the net to make it a 3-0 game. The Mounties limited Medaille to three shots on their way to the victory.
The win is the Mounties second straight shutout and fifth shutout of the season for goalkeeper
Lauren Davey, who made two saves.
Mount Aloysius is back in action Wednesday when they host Penn State Altoona for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
