Mounties Suffer Setback in Overtime at La Roche

PITTSBURGH -- The Mount Aloysius Women's Soccer team had not suffered a loss in eight straight games, heading into Tuesday's matchup with La Roche University. While they held the Redhawks off for most of the game, the suffered a 1-0 defeat, in overtime.

While Mount Aloysius controlled most of the game, according to the box score, La Roche actually put more shots on goal during the 94+ minute affair.

The Mounties outshot the Redhawks, 17-10, and earned nine corner kicks, while La Roche didn't have a single one. They also forced La Roche to commit 13 fouls in the game. In overtime, the tides turned, as the Redhawks attempted four shots compared to zero for Mount Aloysius. They also put the lone shot on goal for the period, that led to the difference.

Both goalkeepers had six saves in the game. Lauren Davey (Leonardtown, MD, St. Mary's Ryken) has only given up one goal in regulation this season (against Stevenson). Her two losses on the season have both come in extra time. Davey still leads the AMCC in Save Percentage (.923) and Goals Against (3).

The Mounties had five different players attempt a shot on goal. Sophomore Kourtney Walls (Salix, PA, Forest Hills) had both of her shots saved by the Redhawk keeper.

It's only the second loss of the year for Mount Aloysius, as their record drops to 5-2-3 overall, and 1-1-1 in the AMCC. Six of their ten games, including Tuesday's, have gone into overtime.

They return to the pitch on Saturday, as they will take on Hilbert, as part of a Men's and Women's AMCC Doubleheader. The doubleheader will take place as part of Mount Aloysius' Homecoming Weekend Festivities.
