Mounties Score Three Times in Second Half, Beat Medaille

Buffalo, NY -- The Mount Aloysius Women's Soccer team traveled to Buffalo on Saturday to take on Medaille. They scored three unanswered goals to secure the road victory.

Medaille scored the lone goal of the first half in the 21st minute. They would play the remainder of the first half even, heading into the locker room, Medaille holding a 1-0 advantage.

After what must've been a spirited half-time speech by Coach Adam Sprague, the Mounties scored within the first minute of being on the field. Kara Platt (Shanksville, PA, Shanksville-Stonycreek) found Johnna Adams (Lancaster, PA, Hempfield) for her fifth goal of the season, tying the team lead.

The Mounties were able to put continued pressure on the Mavericks, as they outshot them 23-7 for the game. including 12-5 in shots on goal.

In the 69th minute, Maddie Doyle (Abington, PA, Abington) scored her fourth goal of the season, with Sam Torrenti (Chester, CT, Valley Regional) assisting. Doyle's goal put the Mounties ahead 2-1, with just over 20 minutes to play.

Approximately five minutes later, Platt earned her second assist of the game. This time she hit Kourtney Walls (Salix, PA, Forest Hills) for her team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Mount Aloysius turned to defense in the final minutes of the game, as they did not allow Medaille to attempt a shot, preserving the 3-1 victory.

Goalkeeper Lauren Davey (Leonardtown, MD, St. Mary's Ryken) had four saves, as she was victorious in goal.

The Mounties will be back on the road Wednesday, as they travel to Pitt-Greensburg, to take on the Bobcats. UPG is currently 15-0, and leading the AMCC. The Bobcats are currently ranked sixth in the United Soccer Coaches Great Lakes Regional Poll.
