Pittsburgh -- The Mount Aloysius Women's Basketball team traveled to Chatham University on Monday night to take on the undefeated Cougars. They were defeated on the road, 88-65.

Lea Sammarco (Patton, PA, Bishop Carroll)Â led the Mounties with 17 points and 6 rebounds, as she went 5-9 from three point range.

Machala Gibbons (Cairnbrook, PA, Bishop McCort) added a game-high seven assists for Mount Aloysius.
- Chatham Guard Kaitlyn Fertig led all scorers with 33 points, including eight three point field goals.
- Emily Ondo had the only double-double of the game for the Cougars with 24 points and 10 rebounds.
How it Happened
- The first quarter was kept close, despite Chatham getting out to an early lead. They jumped out to a 10-3 lead. The Mounties would weather the first quarter storm and even the game at 15 in the final minute of the period.
- Mount Aloysius got a boost from three, three point field goals in the quarter, with two from Sammarco and one from Gibbons.
- The Mounties jumped out to a lead, to start the second quarter, behind a jumper fromÂ
Ryanna Hockenos (Ashville, PA, Penn Cambria) and a three pointer by fellow freshman,
Emma Kitko (Houtzdale, PA, Moshannon Valley). Each basket was matched by the Cougars.
- Sammarco would add the next two three pointers for Mount Aloysius, sandwiched around eight straight points for Chatham. The Cougars would score the following seven points to stretch their lead to 35-26. Hockenos would add two more jumpers, but the Mounties trailed 40-30 at the half.
- The first five minutes of the second half saw many shots fall, as the Mounties went 5-7 from the field, but found themselves down 15, thanks to Chatham going a perfect 5-5 from three point range to begin the half.
- Chatham would go on to hit seven total threes in the quarter, on their way to 17 for the game. They finished the quarter ahead by 19 points.
- Mount Aloysius kept trying to chip away at the lead in the final period, but were unable to get closer than 16.
Into the Box Score
- The Mounties shot a season-high 44% from the field, en route to a season-high, 65 points. Every player who played in the game for Mount Aloysius finished with four or more points.
- Hockenos scored a career-high 16 points, on 8-15 shooting from the field. She also added two assists, two rebounds, and a block.
- Mount Aloysius also hit for a season-high 80% from the line. They were 12-15.
- Chatham also reached season-highs in FG%, 3P%, and 3PM. They shot 50% from the field and 43% from three.
