Mounties' Season Ends in AMCC Semi-Finals

ERIE -- The Mount Aloysius Volleyball team traveled to Penn State Behrend for the AMCC Tournament on Saturday, for a semi-final matchup with rival, Pitt-Bradford. The Panthers put forth a phenomenal performance to down the Mounties in three sets.

Mount Aloysius was outhit in each set, on the way to being outhit for the game. The Panthers picked up 42 kills and only eight errors, as they hit an astonishing .318 for the game. The Mounties were only able to hit .098, as they committed 20 hitting errors for the game.

In set one, both teams produced their best hitting percentage of the game. However, that would not be enough for Mount Aloysius, as the Panthers got out to a 9-2 lead early. The Mounties were able to cut the lead to four, at 11-7, but that would be as close as they would get. UPB would keep the lead between five and eight points before winning the set, 25-17.

The second set got off to a similar start, as the Panthers scored nine of the first 12 points. Again, Mount Aloysius would cut the lead to four, this time at 10-6. Pitt-Bradford would then extend the lead, before capping it at 22-10. The Mounties tried to claw back, but would again lose the set, 25-17.

With the final set of their season on the line, the Mounties were unable to put everything together. They struggled to the finish line committing eight errors and registering only seven kills in the final frame. UPB had a 16-9 lead, before they scored nine of the last ten points, to put an end to the Mounties season, 25-10.

The Mounties were led in the loss by Machala Gibbons (Cairnbrook, PA, Bishop McCort) and Kylee Clawson (Altoona, PA, Altoona) defensively, as they picked up 20 and 15 digs, respectively. Gibbons also tallied a team-high, nine kills. Macy King (New Bethlehem, PA, Redbank Valley) and Ashlee Parrish (Northern Cambria, PA, Northern Cambria) each added eight kills. King also hit a team-high .273 for the game. Senior Emma Pevarnik (Greensburg, PA, Hempfield) finished with a game-high 28 assists.
