Altoona, PA- The Mount Aloysius Men's Tennis team defeated their second straight opponent as they have started their season with a 3-0 record. They picked up the win against Bethany at the Summit Athletic Club by a score of 7-2.
The Mounties dominated doubles play as they won all three matches with ease.
Matt Blose (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) and
Nick Goldyn (Sidman, PA/Richland) won in the top pairing 8-3,
Dylan Matta (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) and
Cole Kazmierczyk (Johnstown, PA/Richland) won the second match 8-2, and
Christopher Godet ( Nassau, Bahamas/Queen's College) and
Gavin Spellmeyer (Breinigsville, PA/Parkland) shut out their opponents in the third match wining, 8-0.
Blose also dominated the top singles pairing, winning easily 6-0,6,0. In one of the toughest matches of the day, Kazmeirczyk picked up a 3 set win in the second pairing. After winning the first set 6-3, Cole began battling hand cramps as he lost the second set 6-4. He battled through the pain in his racket hand to take the tie-breaking set by a score 10-6. Goldyn and Godet also picked up wins in singles play.
The Mounties record is now 3-0. They have two games over the weekend, as they take on Geneva College at 11 AM Saturday and Juniata College at 11 AM Sunday. Both matches will be at the Summit Athletic Club in Altoona.
