Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Tough Shooting Night Brings Lady Mountie Season to an End at Pitt Bradford

Bradford, PA - The Mount Aloysius Women's Basketball season ended on Wednesday night, as they lost in the first round of the AMCC Tournament to the third seeded Pitt Bradford Panthers 78-42. The Mounties had a tough shooting night, as they finished shooting 25.9% overall and 14.3% from beyond the arc.

The Lady Mounties fell behind early as they were kept scoreless for the first 4 minutes of the game. Things would not improve throughout the game as they continued to struggle from the floor, while their opponents shot 52% from the field for the entire game. The Mounties were able to find some success late in the game, scoring 19 points in the final quarter. Rachel Robinson (Leola, PA/Conestoga Valley) scored 6 points in the final quarter, while senior leader Breana Kendrick (Broad Top City, PA/Tussey Mountain) scored 8 in her final action in a Mountie uniform. After she hit one final three with 1:13 to go, Coach Giesler called a timeout to allow Kendrick to receive an ovation from the traveling Mountie fans.

Kendrick was the leading scorer for the Mounties, finishing her career with a 17 point performance. She finished her career with 1,186 points in exactly 100 career games. Robinson was the only other Mountie to finish in double figures, scoring 10. Machala Gibbons (Cairnbrook, PA/Bishop McCort) scored 7 points while assisting on 7 baskets.

The Mounties season finished with an overall record of 8-18. Kendrick averaged 16.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season to lead the team in both categories. Lea Sammarco (Patton, PA/Bishop Carroll) and Robinson both finished the year with double digit averages, scoring 11.0 and 10.2 respectively.
