Cresson, PA - Senior first baseman
Sam Keibler (Kittaning, PA/Kittaning) has earned national recognition for his performance for the Mount Aloysius Baseball Team last week. D3baseball.com named Keibler to its team of the week on Tuesday. The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its eighth season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week from across the country.
Keibler hit .455 (10-for-22), recorded an on base percentage of .556 and slugged .727 this week. He hit three doubles and a home run, stole two bases, drove in six runs and scored five more. He also played an error free first base for the week, recording 63 putouts.
Keibler becomes the second Mountie in three weeks to earn a spot on the Team of the Week. He joins fellow senior
Matthew McCourt (Mullica Hill, NJ/St. Augustine Prep) who was given the same recognition after the Mounties opening weekend. Keibler was also named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference's Baseball Player of the Week, along with teammate
Douglas Cannon (Valencia, Pa/Mars Area) who was awarded as the Pitcher of the Week. The Mounties have now picked up 3 Conference Players of the Week, 1 Conference Pitcher of the Week and 2 appearances on the national team of the week in just 3 weeks of action.
The Mounties (9-4) will be right back in action this week. They host Wilson for a doubleheader on Tuesday, travel to Shenandoah on Thursday, and open AMCC play at Bitt Bradford on Saturday.
