Altoona, PA - The Mount Aloysius men's tennis team opened their AMCC schedule on Saturday afternoon, falling to Penn State Behrend by a score of 5-4.
The Mounties were only able to win one of the three doubles matches to start the day. The top pairing of
Matt Blose (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) and
Nick Goldyn (Sidman, PA/Forest Hills) came away with the lone Mountie victory. Despite sharing the first few points, they were able to pull away late, earning an 8-5 victory.
Mount Aloysius had great success at the top of the singles slate, as they took the top 3 matches easily to go ahead 4-2. Blose won the first match 6-0,6-3. Fellow freshman
Cole Kazmierczyk won at #2 6-3, 6-1 and Goldyn took care of the third position 6-0, 6-0. Despite the early success, the Mounties were unable to pick up the match clinching point as they lost the final 3 pairings to lose the match 5-4.
The Mounties (5-2) will be right back in action on Sunday as they will host Pitt-Greensburg in their final regular season home match of the year.Â
