Wheeling, WV - The Mount Aloysius men's tennis team fell to defending conference champions Franciscan University, by a score of 8-1.
The Mounties were able to pick up their lone point of the day in doubles play. The top pairing of
Matt Blose (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) and
Nick Goldyn (Sidman, PA/Forest Hills) were able to win their doubles match in tiebreaking fashion. They picked up an 8-7 victory with the tiebreak set finishing 8-0 in favor of the Mounties.Â
Blose also was the Mounties' closest player to pick up a point in singles. Playing at #1, Blose lost the first set 4-6 and rallied in the second set 6-1 to set up a tiebreaker. In the extra set, Blose battled but ultimately fell by a score of 7-10.
The Mounties are now 6-3 with a 1-2 record in AMCC play. They will return to action this weekend as they take on Penn State Altoona on Friday night.
