Altoona, PA - The Mount Aloysius Men's Tennis team picked up their 7th win of the season with a 6-3 win over Penn State Altoona.
The Mounties were able to jump out to an early lead in doubles play. They won the first two pairings in close fashion.
Matt Blose (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) and
Nick Goldyn (Sidman, PA/Forest Hills) won at #1 by a score of 8-6, and
Cole Kazmierczyk (Johnstown, PA/Richland) and
Dylan Matta (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) won at #2 by a score of 8-5).
The Mounties were able to wrap up the match, winning the top 4 matches in singles play. Blose was able to take the top pairing 6-0, 6-1. Kazmierczyk breezed through the second pairing 6-2,6-2. Goldyn won the clinching match at number 3 with a score of 6-4, 7-5 and Matta added the final win at number 4, 6-0, 7-6.
The win moves the Mounties' record to 7-3 on the year with a 2-2 record in conference play. They will take on Saint Vincent College in a non-conference match on Sunday, beginning at 12 PM in Latrobe.
