Erie, Pa- The Mount Aloysius Men's Tennis team made history on Saturday, as their win in the Semi-final allowed them to reached the AMCC Championship Match for the first time. They defeated Medaille College 5-3 in a rematch of their final regular season game of the season.

The Mounties were able to get off to a quick start, as they won 2 of the 3 doubles matches. At the #1 pairing, Matt Blose (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) and Nick Goldyn (Sidman, PA/Forest Hills) won their match by a score of 8-3, and the second pair of Cole Kazmierczyk (Johnstown, PA/Richland) and Dylan Matta (Pittsburgh, PA/Plum) dispatched of their opponents with less resistance, winning 8-2.

Moving to singles play, the Mounties quickly won the race to 5 points, as they took the #1, #2 and #4 matches. Blose took the #1 6-1, 6-2 and his fellow freshman Kazmierczyk won 6-1,6-1 at #2. The match was clinched when the senior, Matta, picked up a 6-3,6-1 victory to pick up the decisive 5th point and seal the match in the Mounties' favor.

With the win, the Mounties move their season record to 10-5. They will look to win the program's first Championship on Sunday, when they take on top seeded Franciscan University at Westwood Tennis Club in Erie, Pa beginning at 1:00 PM.
