Greensburg, PA - The Mount Aloysius Men's tennis team lost its non-conference match to St. Vincent on Sunday by a score of 7-2.
The Mounties struggled with the Bearcats depth, and were only able to secure points in the top positions.
In doubles, the top pairing of
Matt Blose (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) and
Nick Goldyn (Sidman, Pa/Forest Hills) were able to win their match in close fashion. They outlasted their opponents and won the final set of the match to earn an 8-7 victory. The pair is undefeated on the season with an 11-0 record.
Blose also picked up the lone singles point. Playing in the #1 pairing, Blose won his match 6-3,6-3. The freshman is currently 8-3 in the top spot this year. Fellow freshman
Cole Kazmierczyk played in the most contentious match of the day. After losing the opening set 2-6, Kazmierczyk battled back with a 6-4 win in the second set to move into a tiebreaker. In the tie-breaking set, Kazmierczyk ran out of gas and was defeated 1-10.
The Mounties are now 7-4 on the season with a 2-2 record in AMCC play. They will finish their regular season this weekend with two crucial AMCC matches. On Friday, they will travel to Pitt-Bradford, and on Sunday will take on Medaille.
