Mounties Open AMCC with 1-1 Weekend

EBENSBURG -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Tennis team opened up the AMCC portion of the 2019-20 schedule this weekend, with matches against Penn State Altoona and Pitt-Greensburg. They went 1-1 for the weekend.

In Saturday's conference opener against Penn State Altoona, the Mounties started off with a win behind two doubles victories and four wins during the singles matches.

Sophomore Matt Blose (Punxsutawney, PA, Punxsutawney) and Freshman Caleb Beidle won their #1 Doubles match, then went on to sweep their Singles matches at the #1 and #2 slots. Cole Kazmierczyk (Johnstown, PA, Richland) was also part of a winning duo and won his singles match at #3 easily, 6-1, 6-1. The Mounties got their final point from Adam Tussey (Pine Grove Mills, PA, State College), Tussey won an intense match that saw him split sets one and two, then win the final set 10-2.

On Sunday, the Mounties hosted Pitt-Greensburg in their second match of the weekend. Beidle and Kazmierczyk both went undefeated again, as part of winning pairs of two separate doubles tandems. Both went on to win their singles matches at #2 and #3, respectively. Tussey was the only other Mountie to score more than two points in a singles match, but also went on to lose 2-0.

The loss on Sunday afternoon was the first of the new campaign, for Mount Aloysius. The Men will return to action next weekend, when the host both Penn State Behrend and Pitt-Bradford. Both matches will take place at Ebensburg Tennis Center, following the Women's matches.
