EBENSBURG -- The Mount Aloysius Women's Tennis team played three matches over the weekend, including two against AMCC opponents. They were able to win all three matches, and improved to 5-1 in conference play, in the process.
On Friday, the Mounties traveled to Waynesburg to take on the Yellow Jackets. Mount Aloysius was able to take six of the nine matches.Â
Chloe Love (Duncansville, PA, Hollidaysburg) andÂ
Payton Whysong (Imler, PA, Chestnut Ridge) were able to dismantle their opponents at first and second singles, as well as first doubles. The pair only allowed five total points to be scored on the day.Â
Emily Abramowich (Somerset, PA, Somerset) andÂ
Maggie Willason (Johnstown, PA, Richland) were also able to win all three of their potential matches, to give the Mounties their other three points.
The Mounties returned home on Saturday at Ebensburg Tennis Center, as they hosted Penn State Behrend. The duo ofÂ
Ayusma Bhattarai (Pittsburgh, PA, Baldwin) andÂ
Krishna Rana (Toledo, OH) got in on the action, as they swept their three points for the match. Mount Aloysius won all but one match on the day. The win improved the Mounties' AMCC record to 4-1 on the season.
Sunday afternoon, the Mounties hosted another AMCC foe, in Pitt-Bradford. The Panthers provided the toughest test of the weekend, as Mount Aloysius split the singles matches, and won two of the three doubles matches, to win 5-4. The key match in the box score was the deciding doubles matches. While Love and Whysong won an 8-0 decision, the second doubles match showed the competitiveness of the match, as Abramowich and Willason won 8-7.
The final win against the Panthers improved the Mounties' conference record to 5-1. Only Franciscan (3-0) and Medaille (5-0) remain undefeated in AMCC competition.
Mount Aloysius will return to action next weekend, when they host La Roche on Sunday afternoon, at Ebensburg Tennis Center.
