Erie -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Basketball team traveled to Penn State Behrend on Tuesday evening, for their AMCC Tournament quarterfinal matchup against the #3-seeded Lions. The Mounties fell behind early on their way to a 65-52 defeat.
Leaders
-Â

How It Happened
- After Palacio scored the first basket of the game, Behrend would score the next nine points to take an early 9-2 lead. The Lions stretched the lead to 16-6, on a King three-pointer. The ten point lead was their biggest of the half.
- The Mounties would respond with a 15-5 run of their own, to tie the game at 21. They got seven points from Palacio, four from Amadou, and two each fromÂ
Nate Christian (Accokeek,MD, Surratsville) and
Enoch Quarcoo (Eastbourne, England), during the run.
- Over the final 6:45, Behrend would grab the lead as Palacio had five of the Mounties eight points over the rest of the period, but were outscored 14-8. The other Mountie basket was a three by
Trent McErlane (Greenville, PA, Greenville). Kenny Fukon banked in a three, just before the end of the half for PSB, giving them the six point advantage heading into the break.
- To begin the second half, Palacio score the first five points for Mount Aloysius, however, the Mounties could only cut the lead to five points.
- The Lions stretched the lead throughout the half, keeping it in double-digits for the majority. A jumper by Christian, with 2:18 left, was the last time the Mounties saw the lead get below ten points. Mount Aloysius would not score in the closing minutes following the basket.
Into the Box Score
- Penn State Behrend shot a blistering 54.2% for the game, including a 9-20 performance (45%) from beyond the arc. The Mounties only produced 39.6% shooting overall.
- Mount Aloysius also attempted a season-low nine free throws, while only making five. It was the lowest amount of production they received from the free throw line this season. Their previous low was eight made free throws out of nine attempts against Hilbert, on February 8.
- Palacio's 27 points were a career-high. His previous career-high was in 2018, when he had 26 points at Hilbert.
- Both teams took great care of the basketball on Tuesday, as each team committed only ten turnovers, while producing a combined 31 assists for the game.
The Mounties finish their season with a 14-12 record, their second consecutive winning record after finishing 14-13 in 2018-19. It was also the third straight season Mount Aloysius has appeared in the conference tournament. They will lose seniors Amadou, Christian, McErlane, and
Julian Stover (Washington, DC, Richard Montgomery)Â to graduation, but will look to build on what they have accomplished in the future. Stover finishes his career with 1,082 points at Mount Aloysius.
