Second-Half Goal Lifts Bobcats Over Mounties

CRESSON, Pa. -- On Tuesday night, the Mount Aloysius Women's Soccer team hosted Pitt-Greensburg, in a match of two, 2-1 teams, in AMCC play. The Bobcats scored late in the second-half to take a lead they would not give up.

Leaders
- Alexsia Barlamas scored the lone goal of the game for Pitt-Greensburg.
- Kourtney Walls (Salix, PA, Forest Hills) led the Mounties with six shots, three of them on goal.
- Lauren Davey (Leonardtown, MD, St. Mary's Ryken) stopped nine Bobcat shots, but was handed the loss in goal.

How It Happened
- While there was no scoring in the first half, both teams were aggressive on offense. Walls and Barlamas each put shots off the cross bar in the first period, in addition to both goalies having to make clutch saves.
- Davey was forced to make seven saves in the first half, not including the shot off the cross bar.
- The second half was slower offensively, but not without chances. Walls and Patara Billingsly (Woodbridge, VA, Forrest Park) had the first two shots on goal in the second half, for Mount Aloysius.
- In the 78th minute, Barlamas dribbled around the Mountie defense, along the goal line from the corner, where she was able to put a close shot past Davey. The goal gave the Mounties only 12-plus minutes to try and knot the score.
- Mount Aloysius only took one more shot for the game, which ended up wide.

Into the Box Score
- Pitt-Greensburg out-shot the Mounties, 23-13, for the game. They also put twice as many shots on goal as the hosts.
- In addition to the shots, UPG held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks.
- The Bobcats also committed nine fouls compared to only one for the Mounties.

Up Next
- Mount Aloysius is set to travel to Alfred State, on Saturday, for a matchup with the Pioneers.
- Alfred State is currently 4-6 overall. They are 1-3 in the AMCC, after losing their fifth straight game of the season, on Tuesday, to Medaille.
- In the only meeting between the two programs, back in 2019, Mount Aloysius won 9-1.
