How It Happened
- The Mounties got off to a slow start, losing the first quarter 12-4.
- Mount Aloysius would come alive in the second quarter, however, scoring 22 points to Medaille's 12 points. Harding would then steal the ball and score a layup to give the Mounties their first lead of the game, 21-20.
- The Mounties stretched the lead to four points on two free throws by Bates, 26-22. Medaille converted a layup in the final seconds of the first half to bring the score to 26-24.
- Medaille immediately tied the game at the beginning of the third quarter. The momentum shifted Medaille's way as they led by seven at the halfway point of the quarter. Although, the Mounties hung around and were only down by four points, 43-39, at the conclusion of the period.
- Medaille maintained a slight lead the majority of the fourth quarter. But just inside the minute mark, Harding nailed a go-ahead three-pointer on a pass by Bates to make the score 49-48.
- Both teams traded turnovers and Medaille missed a layup opportunity with 11 seconds remaining. Rittenhouse pulled down the rebound and was quickly fouled. She stepped up to the line and hit two critical free throws to increase the lead to 51-48. The Mounties held on to win by that score giving them both their second AMCC and overall victory.
