Greensburg, Pa -- On Sunday, the Mount Aloysius Men's Tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season, as they bested the Bobcats of Pitt-Greensburg, 5-4. Both wins have been AMCC victories, keeping them undefeated in conference play.
The Mounties took two of the three doubles matches, falling 8-6 at #1 Doubles, but winning 8-0 and 8-1, respectively, at #2 and #3 Doubles. The duo ofÂ
Cole Kazmierczyk (Johnstown, PA, Richland) and
Adam Snyder (Weedville, PA, St. Mary's Area), produced an 8-0 victory, and went undefeated on the day, both winning their singles matchups.
In the singles portion, the Mounties split with the Bobcats. Both
Adam Tussey (Pine Grove Mills, PA, State College)(#5 Singles) and
Blake Fillinger (Darlington, PA, Beaver Falls)(#6 Singles) lost tough matches in the third set, while Mount Aloysius, also fell in the #1 slot. However, Kazmierczyk andÂ
Bruce Perow (Huntingdon, PA, Huntingdon) both won 6-0, 6-0, in their #2 and #3 positions.
With the match tied 4-4, the Mounties had one final opportunity to get the point they needed. Snyder was the last player on the court, winning at #4 Singles, handily, 6-1, 6-4, to earn the victory.
Snyder's heroics allowed the Mounties to stay undefeated in conference play, 2-0. They currently sit in first, ahead of both Pitt-Greensburg and Penn State Altoona, who they defeated last week. Both teams are 1-1.
Mount Aloysius will return to action, this coming weekend, with a non-conference matchup at Lancaster Bible and their third AMCC matchup of the season, against Medaille. The match against Medaille will be held at Ebensburg Tennis Center.
