Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Bates Produces Career-High in Mountie Loss

Clarion, Pa. -- On Sunday, the Mount Aloysius Women's Basketball team traveled to Clarion for their second matchup in three days with the, Division II, Eagles. They fell in their second game of the season.

Leaders
- Freshman Cameron Bates (Fort Pierce, FL, John Carroll) produced her career-high and first 20+ point game, going for 23 points, including 9-10 shooting from the free throw line. Bates also grabbed a team-high, seven rebounds.
- Carly Stigers (Beaverdale, PA, Forest Hills) led the Mounties with three assists.
- Zoé Harding (Garrett, PA, Berlin-Brothersvalley) and Kelsey Johnson (Tyrone, PA, Bishop Guilfoyle) each bucketed two three pointers for Mount Aloysius.

How It Happened
- The Mounties got off to a hot start as they hit from deep on their first two possessions, one from Harding and one from Johnson, to take a 6-0 lead.
- Following a basket by Bates to give the Mounties a 8-7 lead, the Golden Eagles went on a 16-0 run to blow the game wide open, in the first quarter. Clarion went 6-7 from behind the arc in the period.
- In the second quarter, both teams went 0-5 from distance, leading to a lower scoring quarter, but Clarion only added six to their lead. The Mounties scored on their first three possessions in the quarter, then hit a skid, only scoring four points the rest of the quarter.
- Mount Aloysius played even with the Eagles through the first half of the third quarter, before falling behind in the final four and a half minutes.
- The Mounties saw their highest scoring quarter come in the fourth quarter, as they scored 18 points. They added half of their three-point baskets in the quarter, going 3-6.

Into the Box Score
- The Mounties cut down the rebounding margin from Friday night, as they limited Clarion to 11 offensive rebounds. They were only out-rebounded by 14, over the course of the game, which could be attributed to the poor shooting percentage.
- Mount Aloysius made major improvements in most offensive categories from Friday, as they shot better from the field, three-point range, and the free throw line.
- Clarion had seven players reach double-figures. Both teams had every player that hit the floor, score at least a point.

Up Next
- Mount Aloysius is scheduled to play a home and home series with Penn State Altoona, next weekend, on Friday and Sunday. Both games will be exhibitions/scrimmages and will not have stats.
