Ebensburg, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius Men's Tennis team opened up their portion of the 2020-21 season, on Sunday afternoon. They played host to Penn State Altoona, at Ebensburg Tennis Center, in an AMCC matchup.
The Mounties produced a dominating performance, as they bested the visitors, 7-2. They swept all three doubles matches, and only lost two singles matches.
In doubles, the young duo ofÂ
Caleb Beidle (Bedford, PA, Bedford) andÂ
Bruce Perow (Huntingdon, PA, Huntingdon) earned the 8-1 victory in the #1 position. Coming in at #2,Â
Cole Kazmierczyk (Johnstown, PA, Richland) andÂ
Adam Snyder (Weedville, PA, St. Mary's Area) won 8-2.Â
Tanner Beck (Lancaster, PA, Hempfield) andÂ
Adam Tussey (Pine Grove Mills, PA, State College) provided an 8-3 victory in the #3 spot, to give the Mounties the sweep.
During singles play, Beidle, Kazmierczyk, Perow, and Tussey, all earned victories. Beidle won easily in two sets at #2 singles. Perow was dominant at #3 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1. The #5 singles position was won by Tussey, by going to the third set tiebreaker. Kazmierczyk earned a hard-fought victory at #1 singles, in his first-ever match at the position. While winning the first set 7-6, in tiebreakers, he won the second set 6-0, to get the Mounties their point.
The match marked the first time in 364 days, that the Mounties had been on the court. They looked like they were in mid-season form, earning the victory to start off the season, 1-0.
Mount Aloysius will look to improve to 2-0, on Sunday, when they travel to play Pitt-Greensburg at 1:00 PM.
