AMCC Semi-Final vs. Penn State Altoona (Saturday)
In Saturday's matchup, the Mounties took on Penn State Altoona, whom they had beaten, 7-2, in their first meeting.
Mount Aloysius took the lead early, 2-1, after the Doubles matches.Â
Caleb Beidle (Bedford, PA, Bedford) andÂ
Bruce Perow (Huntingdon, PA, Huntingdon) won a point at #1 Doubles (8-2), whileÂ
Cole Kazmierczyk (Johnstown, PA, Richland) andÂ
Adam Snyder (Weedville, PA, St. Mary's Area) won the second at #2 Doubles (8-1). The Mounties would only need to win three Singles matches to clinch the win and move onto the championship match.
The trio of Beidle, Kazmierczyk, and Perow, all won their Singles matches, to give Mount Aloysius the five points needed to win. Beidle won at #1 Singles, 6-3, 6-4. Kazmierczyk and Perow lost a combined one game in their matches at #2 and #3 Singles. Perow stayed undefeated on the season at #3 Singles, as he won 6-0, 6-0. In tournament play, as soon as a team reaches five points, the match ends, so the Mounties advanced to Sunday's championship match, without needing the points from the #5 or #6 Singles spots.
