Mounties' Season Ends In NEAC Tournament

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. -- On Sunday, the Mount Aloysius Lacrosse team competed in their first-ever NEAC postseason tournament. They were the number-four seed in the tournament and were matched up against, number-one seeded, SUNY Morrisville. The Mustangs outscored the Mounties, 25-6, to earn the victory.

LEADERS
Maddie Waite (New Oxford, PA, New Oxford) led the Mounties with three goals in four shot attempts.
Katie Figinski (Abingdon, MD, Edgewood) added two goals, while grabbing a team-high, six draw controls.
- Defender, Kendra Sines (Somerset, PA, Somerset), caused two turnovers to lead Mount Aloysius in that category.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mount Aloysius tallied the first goal of the contest, just under 30 seconds into the game. Waite scored her 15th goal of the season, to put the Mounties up, 1-0.
- The Mustangs would go and score the next eight goals to take the lead that they would not relinquish.
- Figinski and Waite would add the second and third Mountie goals, sandwiched around one more for SUNY Morrisville, making the score 9-3, with just over 16 minutes remaining in the first half.
- Over the final pieces of the first half, the Mustangs would outscore the visitors, 7-0, heading into the lockeroom, up 16-3.
- After Courtney Vought (Somerset, PA, Somerset) added her lone goal of the game, the Mustangs again stretched their lead, scoring the next five, pushing the deficit to 21-4.
- Waite and Figinski would each add a goal over the final 13 minutes of the game. They were still outscored, 4-2, over the final stretch, putting the final score at 25-6.

INTO THE BOX SCORE
- Morrisville outshot the Mounties 39-11 and in shots on goal (31-10).
- The Mustangs also produced more draw controls (21-12), ground balls (24-10), and clears (8-4).
- Mountie goalkeeper, Zoe Swank (Romeoville, IL, Romeoville), tallied six saves compared to two each for each of the Mustang goalies.

UP NEXT
The Mounties will return to the field next season for their second year as a member of the NEAC for Women's Lacrosse. They will look to get their first NEAC win and build on their success from this season.
