Three Mounties Named First Team All-NEAC

LATHAM, N.Y. -- On Friday, the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) released their annual conference awards for Women's Lacrosse. Three Mounties were named as members of the All-NEAC First Team. Katie Figinski (Abingdon, MD, Edgewood), Courtney Vought (Somerset, PA, Somerset), and Maddie Waite (New Oxford, PA, New Oxford), were all named to the 2021 All-Conference First Team. 2021 was Mount Aloysius' first season as a conference member of the NEAC in Lacrosse, after 2020 was their first season of competition.

Katie Figinski earned her first All-NEAC selection, at the Attack position. In her second year, as a member of the Mountie Lacrosse team, Figinski scored eight goals in five games. She finished second on the team in total points and ranked first in assists, with four. Figinski also registered six ground balls and 14 draw controls.

Courtney Vought also earned her first All-NEAC selection, on defense. She finished third on the team, in points, while leading in caused turnovers (7). Her number of caused turnovers had her ranked in the top ten in the NEAC, while only playing three games. Including the conference tournament game, Vought finished the season, second on the team in ground balls, but was leading the team heading, following the end of the regular season.

Finally, Maddie Waite was named to the All-NEAC team for the first time in 2021, in the midfield. Having only played in three games, she finished 11th overall in goals scored. She also led the team in goals and total points. Waite is currently the program's career leader in Goals (28), Points (28), Shots on Goal (52), Draw Controls (40), and Ground Balls (22), while she has started every game in her Mountie career.

SUNY Morrisville led all teams with five First Team selections. They were also the Regular Season NEAC Champion, as they finished the conference schedule, undefeated. Mount Aloysius fell in the first round of the NEAC tournament, to SUNY Morrisville, which ended their season, last Sunday.
