ERIE, Pa. -- On Thursday, the Mount Aloysius Baseball team traveled to Erie for the AMCC Semi-final round, at Penn State Behrend. The best-of-three series saw the first two games contested on Thursday, with the third game, if necessary, scheduled for Friday. The Mounties fell in both Game One and Game Two, dropping the series and ending their season.
GAME 1
- Penn State Behrend jumped out ahead early, as they scored in each of the first three innings, using seven hits across the three frames. They scored twice in the third inning, leading 4-0, heading to the fourth.

Jeremy Iellimo (Arnold, PA, Valley Area) scored the first run for Mount Aloysius after he doubled to lead off the inning.Â
Brayden Lackey (New Cumberland, PA, Cedar Cliff) would single and Iellimo would score after the ball that was thrown to first was thrown away. The run cut the lead to 4-1.
- The Lions would add an insurance run in the fifth inning, as they used a two-out double to drive home a run. The double was their third hit of the inning. It was the final run of the game, as the Mounties were held scoreless the rest of the way, dropping Game One, 5-1.
GAME 2
- Mount Aloysius struck first in Game Two, asÂ
Cody Smith (Loysville, PA, West Perry) andÂ
Ryan Leonard (James Creek, PA, Tussey Mountain) provided a single and double, respectively, to lead off the game. Iellimo followed them up with a sacrifice fly, giving the Mounties a 1-0 lead. They were unable to push across Leonard, leaving him stranded at third base.
- PSB responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the first, tying the game at one a piece. Neither team was able to score over the next two innings, leaving the game at 1-1, heading to the fourth.
- In the bottom of the fourth, the Lions used three hits and a walk to score three runs, giving them a 4-1 lead. The also added three in the bottom of the fifth inning, extending their lead to 7-1. After another scoreless Mountie at-bat, the PSB added three more in the sixth, giving them a wide, nine-run margin.
- Lackey drove in a run for the Mounties, in the top of the eighth, when he tripled home Iellimo from first base. 10-2 Lions.
- After Penn State Behrend added another run in the bottom of the eighth, the Mounties scored a third run in their final at-bat. With the bases loaded, and one out, Smith drove inÂ
Patrick Mahon (Pittsburgh, PA, Mount Lebanon) from third on a ground ball. Leonard would fly out to end the game, 11-3.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Five different Mounties picked up a hit in Game One, withÂ
Joshua Brown (Manassas, VA, Osbourn Park) reaching base twice, courtesy of a hit and a free pass.
- In Game Two, Leonard had a hit in each of his first four at-bats, before the flyout to end the game. His four hits were the most in any game for Leonard, this season.

Nick Lagnese (North Huntingdon, PA, Norwin) threw a scoreless inning, in relief during Game One. He gave up a hit while striking out one, in the frame.
The Mounties finish with a 19-14 overall record, going 11-5 during AMCC play in the regular season. They picked up a key victory early in the season, over then-ranked #13, Shenandoah. They also played 20 of their 33 games, on the road, going 12-8 in those contests.
