Adams & Walls Propel Mounties to 3-1 Victory at Bethany

TRIADELPHIA, W.V. -- Johnna Adams and Kourtney Walls combined to account for all three goals in Wednesday's Mount Aloysius Women's Soccer victory over Bethany. The win was the Mounties' third of the season.

Leaders
- Kourtney Walls (Salix, PA, Forest Hills) scored two goals and added an assist, good for five points, to lead the Mounties.
- Johnna Adams (Lancaster, PA, Hempfield) added a goal of her own and assisted on one of the Walls goals, giving her three points.
- Courtney Vought (Somerset, PA, Somerset) made three saves in goal for the Mounties, as she relieved Lauren Davey (Leonardtown, MD, St. Mary's Ryken) at halftime. Davey had one save during her time in goal.

How It Happened
- Mount Aloysius bolted out of the gate, as they grabbed an early 1-0 lead. Walls found Adams for the first goal, just 1:37 into the game. The goal was Adams' second of the year.
- The Adams-Walls connection struck again when Adams found Walls for the second goal of the day, in the 15th minute. Walls' goal was her fourth of the season and first of the contest.
- Bethany cut the Mount Aloysius lead in half, in the 32nd minute, when Kaitlin Pickett scored, making the game 2-1, Mounties.
- Over the course of the first half, Mount Aloysius attempted nine shots, eight of which were on goal.
- In the first 23 minutes of the second half, they were able to continue to apply pressure on Bethany. While the Bison got two shots on goal, both saved by Vought, the Mounties put three on goal and two more off target.
- Katie Miller (Cumberland, MD, Mountain Ridge) decided to get in on the action in the 69th minute, when she found Walls for her second goal of the game, giving the Mounties an insurance goal. The goal was Walls' fifth of the season and the assist was Miller's first.
- Before the game ended, the Mounties put four more shots on target, continuing to be aggressive. Vought also made a save, keeping Bethany off the board in the second half and securing the 3-1 victory.

- Mount Aloysius attempted 22 shots in the contest, compared to the eight shots attempted by Bethany. This was the major advantage for the Mounties.
- Corner kicks were almost even, as Mount Aloysius had a 6-5 advantage. Fouls were similar as the Bison committed one more than their counterparts.

- Adams and Walls are both highly ranked in AMCC offensive categories. Walls is currently third in total goals (5) and total points (12). Walls is tied for second with two assists, trailing Adams by one, as she is the AMCC assist leader.

Up Next
- The Mounties are scheduled to open up AMCC play on Saturday, when they travel to Erie to take on Penn State Behrend (4-1). Behrend is set to play Mount Union, late on Wednesday.
- Mount Aloysius has never beaten Penn State Behrend in any of their previous matchups. In 2019, the tied the Lions during their regular season matchup, 0-0, before falling in the AMCC semi-final round to PSB, 3-2 in overtime.
- Saturday's game is the AMCC opener for both squads. The match is set to begin at 2:00 p.m.
