Mounties Fall to 13th-ranked Red Devils in Home Opener

CRESSON, Pa. -- Saturday afternoon saw the first official home fall sporting event for a Mount Aloysius team, in almost two years, as the Women's Soccer team played host to 13th-ranked, Dickinson. They had their hands full with the Red Devils from start to finish.

Leaders
- Johnna Adams (Lancaster, PA, Hempfield) tallied the lone shot for the Mounties on the day.
- Lauren Davey (Leonardtown, MD, St. Mary's Ryken) recorded 13 saves in 90 minutes.
- Keira Shoup, of Dickinson, led the game with three total points, scoring one goal and adding an assist.

How It Happened
- Dickinson scored their first tally of the game, just over six minutes in, on a very impressive shot that slid past Davey into the lower corner of the goal.
- The rest of the half was played evenly, as the two teams only committed five total fouls. The Red Devils did own the box score, as they registered 14 total shots compared to the lone Mountie attempt.
- In the second half, the Red Devils scored in the first minute, giving them an insurance goal.
- In the 55th minute, the added a third goal on a pass through the middle to Shoup, pushing the lead to 3-0.
- Their final goal was scored in the 81st minute, on a one-time shot from a crossing pass. The goal gave them the 4-0 lead, where the game finished.

Into The Box Score
- The game was played much more evenly than the box score would indicate, as the halftime score of 1-0, was achieved while the Mounties were outshot and the Red Devils had four corner kicks compared to zero for Mount Aloysius.
- For the game, Dickinson registered 23 shots, 17 of which were on goal, while the Mounties had just the Adams shot, from the first half. Dickinson also had six corner opportunities, while the Mounties only had one.

Up Next
- Mount Aloysius will travel to Lycoming, on Sunday. The Warriors are coming off of an 8-0 win against Gwynedd Mercy, on Saturday.
- The Mounties are 2-2-1 all-time against the Warriors, including a 1-1 tie, back in 2019.
