WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- On Sunday afternoon, the Mount Aloysius Women's Soccer team secured their first victory of the 2021 season, as they beat Lycoming, 2-1. The Mounties improved to 1-1 overall.

Kourtney Walls (Salix, PA, Forest Hills) each scored their first goals of the season. Walls attempted three of the Mounties' 11 total shots.

Johnna Adams (Lancaster, PA, Hempfield) added assists on both goals for Mount Aloysius, tying her for the team lead in the total points category, with two.
- Goalkeeper,
Lauren Davey (Leonardtown, MD, St. Mary's Ryken), also had a game-high, eight saves, earning her the win in goal.
How It Happened
- Each team attempted a shot in the first five minutes, but very little action happened, as both shots were off target.
- Over the final 40 minutes of the first half, the Mounties only attempted two more shots. Lycoming rattled off 12 shots in the period, leading to three Davey saves and one goal.
- The Warriors' goal came in the 36th minute, allowing them to head into the half, ahead 1-0.
- Mount Aloysius came out strong to begin the second half, scoring the first marker of the half. During the 49th minute, Adams was able to get a crossing pass into the box. The pass hit the goalie's hands but got through to Walls, who finished off the score, tying the game at one.
- Both teams played very even through most of the second half, following the Walls goal. In the 88th minute, Figinski was able to score on a breakaway goal, from an Adams' pass, giving the Mounties a 2-1 lead, with very little time left.
- Lycoming was unable to attempt a shot over the final two minutes, giving the victory to the Mounties.
Into the Box Score
- Outside of the first half shot totals, the game was played very evenly in the box score. During the second half, Mount Aloysius attempted eight shots, while the Warriors attempted seven.
- Both teams combined for only ten total fouls. Neither team received any cautions.
- Lycoming did own an advantage in corner kicks, getting seven opportunites, including three, second half opportunities, while the Mounties had three total corners in the game.
Up Next
- The Mounties will stay on the road, traveling to play Geneva, on Wednesday evening, at 5 p.m.
- Geneva is currently 0-2, having lost to Hiram and fellow-AMCC member, La Roche, over the first week of the season.
- In the series matchup, Mount Aloysius has won the last three meetings. All three games were decided by one goal, while two of the games were decided in extra time.
