Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Season Ends for Women's Tennis in AMCC Semifinals

WEXFORD, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius women's tennis team dropped a 5-0 decision to top seed and defending champion Pitt-Greensburg in the AMCC tournament semifinals Saturday afternoon, concluding its 2022 fall season. After her consistent play during the match, Kierra Mountain (Roaring Spring, PA, Central) was named to the All-Tournament team, a first in her career.
The Mounties faced a tough opponent, as Pitt-Greensburg came into the match with a perfect conference record. Pitt-Greensburg began the contest by sweeping all three doubles matches. The Bobcats  then blanked their opponents at No. 6 singles and No. 3 singles, clinching the match victory, 5-0.
While Mount Aloysius was disappointed to end the fall campaign with a loss, it has taken many recent strides.
"I am very proud of how we performed during the AMCC tournament - it was a great experience for the players. It was a notable first step as a program to qualify for the AMCC tournament and we will only continue to build on this success next season," said Coach Maerz.
Mount Aloysius was led this season by Mountain and No. 3 player Julia Davis (Mount Pleasant, Pa., Southmoreland ), who both finished with 3-2 conference records. Davis also teamed up with Campbell McCann (Pittsburgh, Pa., Avonworth ) to earn a team-high 3-2 record at No. 2 doubles.
Kendra Sines (Somerset, PA, Somerset) provided leadership at the No. 1 position, while battling the top players in the region.
Halle Clark (Williamsport, PA, Williamsport), Madison Hillard (Greenville, PA, Greenville), and Ali Lawson (Verona, Pa., Riverview), all new players to the team, shared the No. 5 and No. 6 positions and improved during the season.
With the full roster returning next season, the Mounties have a bright future, as they aim to contend with the top teams in the conference.
Mount Aloysius has more matches to play in the Spring portion of the 2022-23 season. The Mounties will face Lancaster Bible College, Trinity (D.C.) University, and McDaniel College, among others.
