Men's Hoops Defeated By Goucher

BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Mount Aloysius men's basketball team played a solid second half but could not climb out of an early deficit, falling 68-54 at Goucher College on Tuesday night.

Leaders 
- Jason Coronado (Orlando, FL, Ocoee) led the way with 28 points, going 3-of-6 from distance and a perfect 13-of-13 at the free throw line, while grabbing seven rebounds.
- Will Hagwood (Willowick, Oh., South) had a well-rounded performance, recording nine points, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals.
- De'Von Haggans (Harrisburg, PA, Central Dauphin) grabbed ten rebounds and added two blocks, and he chipped in six points.
- Ebone Junior (Silver Spring, Md., Paint Branch) blocked a team-high four shots and pulled down seven rebounds.
- Xavier Johnson (Nassau, The Bahamas, Queens College) came off the bench to go 3-of-3 from the floor for six points.

How It Happened
- After the first three minutes of the game, the Mounties were down by just two points, 9-7. Goucher then went on an 10-0 run to go ahead 19-7 at the 13:11 mark. Midway through the half, Mount Aloysius trailed by an 11-point margin, 22-11.
- Over the course of the next nine minutes, Goucher increased the difference to as much as 28 points, outscoring Mount Aloysius 21-4 during the stretch. The half ended with a layup and free throw by Coronado for a 43-18 score heading into the break.
- Mount Aloysius chipped away at the lead at the start of the second half, cutting it to to 20 points, 46-26, on a Haggans putback and free throw at the 15:41 mark. The margin was at 22 points about halfway through the period, when Coronado scored seven straight points to decrease the deficit to 15 points, 55-40. 
- Goucher expanded the advantage back up to 19 points, 61-42, before Mount Aloysius put together an impressive 12-0 run to get within just seven points, 61-54, with two minutes remaining in the game. However, Goucher answered with seven straight points to close the game, handing Mount Aloysius its first loss of the season, 68-54.

- Mount Aloysius struggled to take care of the ball, finishing with 31 turnovers compared to 14 for Goucher.
