ALTOONA, Pa. and CRESSON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius women's basketball team challenged its opponents in the Mountain Valley Tip-Off Classic this past weekend, but came up short, falling 62-52 to Keuka College on Saturday, and 55-40 to Rose-Hulman on Sunday.

Cameron Bates (Fort Pierce, Fla., John Carroll) was named to the all-conference team after a double-double, 14 points and 11 rebounds, in the Keuka game and a nine-point performance in the second game. Against Keuka, Hanna Rittenhouse (Mc Veytown, Pa., Mifflin County) also earned a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Karissa Mercier (Freedom) had 13 points, including four three-pointers, while Chloe Clemons (Kalaheo) and Hailey Drutarosky (Sewickley Academy) each recorded four assists. The Keuka matchup was the closest game of the season for the Mounties, as they led 26-23 at halftime. However, the third quarter let them down, in which they were outscored 21-8. Mount Aloysius challenge Keuka in the final quarter, even getting within just one point, 53-52, with about three minutes remaining in the game, but eventually fell 62-52.

For the first three quarters against Rose-Hulman, Mount Aloysius stayed within reach, keeping the game below a ten-point margin. However, in the last quarter, the Mounties were held to just seven points and Rose-Hulman ultimately earned the victory, 55-40.

Mount Aloysius is still searching for its first win of the 2022-23 season and will look to an away game at Hiram College on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m. to get on track.
