Mounties Stopped by Penn State Behrend in AMCC Semifinals

ALFRED, N.Y. -- The Mount Aloysius women's volleyball team took the first set against Penn State Behrend, but eventually fell 3-1 Saturday afternoon, bringing its successful season to a close in the AMCC tournament semifinals.

Ashlee Parrish (Northern Cambria, PA, Northern Cambria) tallied 12 kills and ten digs, ending her collegiate career with another strong performance.
- Molly Richards (Naples, Fla., Naples) contributed nine kills and a team-high 17 digs.
- Madison Johnson (Hopewell, PA, Northern Bedford County) finished with nine kills and three assists.
- Emma Colyer (Orlando, FL, Olympia) recorded 19 assists and 13 digs.
- Sydney Lechner (Bellwood, PA, Bellwood-Antis) added eight assists.
- Matie Rupp (York, PA, West York) served a team-high three aces.

How It Happened
- The momentum from the Mounties' first round win carried into the start of the game, as they won the first five points. They maintained their advantage with an 8-2 lead and then went on a 3-0 run for an 11-4 margin. Mount Aloysius continued to control the set with another three-point stretch to make it 16-8. Penn State Behrend responded with five unanswered points to cut the lead to 16-13. Mount Aloysius answered by winning five of the next six points for a 21-14 score. Penn State Behrend then went on a five-of-six point run to get within three points, 22-19. However, the Mounties closed out the set with three straight points for a 25-19 first set win.
- The two teams split the first eight points, before Penn State Behrend went on a 5-0 run for a 9-4 lead. The Mounties chipped away at the margin and got within two points, 10-8. Penn State Behrend then responded with six unanswered points for a 16-8 advantage. Mount Aloysius earned six more points the rest of the way, eventually losing the second set 25-14.
- The Mounties stayed with Penn State Behrend in the opening portion of the third set and tied the game at 10-10. However, Penn State Behrend won six straight points to lead 16-10. Behrend then won nine of the remaining 14 points to win the second set, 25-15.
- Mount Aloysius played well again in the early part of fourth set, evening the game at 11-11 and then 12-12. After Penn State Behrend won three points, the Mounties responded with two of their own for a one-point deficit, 15-14. Behrend went on another three-point run and Mount Aloysius fought back again to stay close, 18-16. Behrend then finished strong, winning seven on the final eight points for a 25-17 set win and 3-1 overall victory.
