Two Women's Volleyball Players Earn All-Conference Honors, Baker Wins Coach of the Year

CRESSON, Pa. -- Mount Aloysius women's volleyball players Ashlee Parrish (Northern Cambria, PA, Northern Cambria) and Molly Richards (Naples, Fla., Naples) were named to the 2022 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate All-Conference team, while Coach Brianna Baker was recognized as Coach of the Year, as announced by the AMCC Wednesday.

Senior Outside Hitter Parrish caps her excellent collegiate career as a member of the All-Conference First Team, following Third Team honors in 2021. She started all 28 games for the Mounties this season, playing 104 total sets. This season Parrish finished third in the conference with 352 total digs, while her 262 kills put her at eighth among conference leaders. She led Mount Aloysius led the team in kills and digs, as well as points (304.5). During her career, Parrish accumulated 802 kills, with a 2.42 kill per set average, and 794 digs, for a 2.40 dig per set average.

Freshman Molly Richards, also an outside hitter, begins her career with Third Team recognition, while also being selected as the AMCC Newcomer of the Year.  Richards tallied 350 digs on the season, placing right near Parrish at sixth in the conference, while ending up just outside the top ten in the conference in kills with 229. She is second on the Mounties in both of these categories. Richards had a season-high 16 kills in a Sept. 16 win over Hood and an impressive 30 digs in the Mounties' playoff win over La Roche University.

Coach Baker was chosen by the other AMCC coaches as the 2022 Coach of the Year, after leading Mount Aloysius to a historic season, in which it earned the first AMCC tournament win in school history. The Mounties owned an 11-17 overall record and 4-3 conference record to finish in third place in the AMCC, improving from a 4-17 overall record and 3-5 conference record the previous year. Baker has coached at Mount Aloysius since 2008, after a standout volleyball and basketball playing career that saw her being inducted into the inaugural class of the Mount Aloysius College Hall of Fame earlier this fall.
