Cougars Maul Mounties on Road

PITTSBURGH -- On Saturday, the Mount Aloysius Men's Basketball team traveled to Pittsburgh to take on Chatham in a non-conference matchup. The Cougars shot over 50% from the field, en route to a 99-70 final.

Leaders
- De'Von Haggans (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin) and Alphonso Morrow (Baltimore, Md. / Parkville) each had 13 points to lead the Mounties.
- Will Hagwood (Willowick, Oh. / South) had a game-high, nine rebounds, while adding nine points.
- Off the bench, Joel Lonigro (Connellsville, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic), was the only other Mountie in double figures scoring.

How It Happened
- After Haggans scored the first basket of the game for the Mounties, the game quickly went south. Before the 10-minute mark, the Cougars opened up a 13-point advantage, 25-12.
- The Mounties would only cut the lead to single-digits one more time, on a Lonigro three-pointer with 8:59 left in the half. Chatham would lead by as many as 17 in the first half, before heading into the break with a 41-28 lead.
- Haggans again opened the half with the first basket, cutting the lead to 11. Mount Aloysius would never get any closer, as Chatham shot 53% in the second half, and led by as many as 32. Marcellus Warren (Springfield, Va. / John R. Lewis) finished the game with the final basket for the Mounties, bringing the final score to 99-70.

Into the Box Score
- Chatham forced 26 Mountie turnovers, while only committing eight. The significant advantage came in points off turnovers, as the Cougars had a 37-5 advantage.
- Mount Aloysius held a slight advantage in three-point shooting, as they shot 46.2%, making six. The Cougars shot 40%, but went 10-for-25.

Up Next
- Following the conclusion of finals week, the Mounties will head back out on the road to face Bethany (W.Va.), on Friday.
- The Bison come into the contest with an 0-8 record.
