Mounties Almost Double-up Keystone, Win Second Straight

LA PLUME, Pa. -- On Wednesday, the Mount Aloysius Lacrosse team won their first official game in program history. They followed it up by winning their second, in their next game, at Keystone on Saturday.

Leaders
- Katie Figinski (Abingdon, MD, Edgewood) and Mallie Lanier (Bealeton, Va., Liberty) each had four goals and an assist, to lead the Mounties with five points each.
- Jordan Mason (Hagerstown, MD, St. Maria Goretti) had a team-high, two assists, to go with a goal.
- Goalkeeper, Zoe Swank (Romeoville, IL, Romeoville), had a game-high, ten ground balls, in addition to ten saves.

How It Happened
- Keystone started the scoring in the first quarter, but saw the teams trade the first four goals. Figinski and Lanier each scored a goal, as Figinski's goal tied the scored at two.
- Hanna Geissler (Irwin, Pa., Norwin) and Clara Larios-Soto (Laurel, MD, Laurel) each added a goal, prior to the end of the first quarter, giving the Mounties a 4-2 lead after one period.
- After a Giant goal to begin the second quarter, the Mounties scored four goals in a row, including three that were scored by Lanier, giving the Mounties an 8-4 lead. Each team would score one more goal in the period, with Maddie Waite (New Oxford, PA, New Oxford) scoring in the final five seconds of the half.
- Waite added her second goal of the game to start the second half, but Keystone cut into the Mountie lead, scoring the next three. The Mounties had a 10-8 lead with just over five minutes to go in the period.
- Figinski added another goal, giving the Mounties an 11-8 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
- In the fourth quarter, it was all Mount Aloysius. The Mounties held the Giants scoreless while they scored four goals, extending their winning score to 15-8.

Into the Box Score
- Despite the seven goal difference, Keystone held a 29-28 advantage in shots taken.
- Mount Aloysius turned the ball over seven less times than the Giants, 31-24. They also had 14 more grounds balls, 39-25.
- The Mounties also cleared the ball at a better percentage, going 9-for-17, while the Giants had six clears in 16 chances.

- Mount Aloysius will return home to host back-to-back United East games. They will host Wells, on Friday, and SUNY Morrisville, on Saturday.
