HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Mount Aloysius Softball team traveled to nearby, Juniata College, on Tuesday, for a doubleheader with the Eagles. After dropping the first half, the Mounties came back to win the second game, earning a split on the day.

Leaders

- Pitcher, Anna Peterman (Clymer, Pa., Penns Manor), had the best outing of the day, earning her first career victory in the circle. She threw 4.2 innings and only allowed one run.

How It Happened
Game One
- After a 1-2-3 top of the first inning, the Eagles put pressure on in the bottom half. They had two singles to start the game, giving them runners at first and third. They used a sacrifice bunt to score the first run of the game, giving them a 1-0 lead.
- Mount Aloysius was able to tie the game at one, in the top of the third inning. With two outs, Ella Pearson (Tyrone, Pa., Tyrone) doubled to put a runner on and Makayla Weyant (Bedford, PA, Chestnut Ridge) followed her up with an RBI single, to tie the game.
- With limited action at the plate, Juniata scored next, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With one out and a runner on third they again used a sacrifice bunt to move the runner home, giving them a 2-1 lead, heading into the Mounties' final at-bat.
- The Eagles forced the Mounties into a 1-2-3 inning, ending the game, 2-1 Juniata.

Game Two
- After only five total combined hits in the first four innings, the Mounties got going in the fifth. They used an error and two, two-out hits, to push across two runs and take the lead, 2-0. Kayla Diehl (Schellsburg, PA, Chestnut Ridge), Cole, and Vereshack all produced hits in the inning, with Cole and Diehl coming around to score.
- Juniata responded with one run in the bottom of the fifth, using two singles and a leadoff walk. 2-1 Mounties.
- In the top of the seventh, Mount Aloysius added an insurance run. Pearson led off with a bunt single and Cole singled, putting Pearson at third. Vereshack hit a sac fly to centerfield, driving home Pearson to give them a 3-1 lead. They held the Eagles to a 1-2-3 inning, earning the 3-1 victory.
