JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- On Wednesday, the Mount Aloysius Baseball team wrapped up the regular season as they hosted Medaille, at Sargent's Stadium in Johnstown. The Mounties swept the Mavericks, earning them the #2 seed and a first round bye in the upcoming AMCC Tournament.

- Centerfielder,Â
Joshua Brown (Manassas, VA, Osbourn Park), tallied five hits in eight at-bats, scoring twice and driving in four runs. Brown also had a triple in Game One.

How It Happened
Game One
- Medaille stranded a leadoff single in the top of the first inning. Mount Aloysius then ripped 12 hits in the bottom of the frame, leading to 11 runs. The offensive output was the most runs the Mounties have scored in one inning, this season. Quade tripled twice and also tripled in the inning. With two outs, the Mavericks removed their starting pitcher after nine consecutive Mounties had reached base. 11-0 Mounties.
- Starter,
Douglas Cannon (Valencia, PA, Mars Area), went 1-2-3 in the top of the second, clearing the way for the Mounties to add four more runs on five hits, in the bottom of the inning. Quade, Iellimo, Brown, and
Troy Emert (Rockwood, PA, Rockwood), all delivered RBI base hits.
- After a 1-2-3 inning from both sides in the third, the Mavericks added a run on three straight singles, before hitting into a double play. 15-1 Mounties.
- The Mounties responded by adding an insurance run in the bottom of the fourth, as Iellimo doubled, with one out.Â
Aidan Bell (Woodbridge, VA, Prince William County) delivered a single through a big gap on the right side, driving home the marker.
- Mount Aloysius squandered a bases loaded opportunity, in the sixth, but kept the Mavericks off the board, sealing the 16-1 victory.
Game Two
- Both Game Two pitchers made their mark early, each allowing one hit through the first two innings. Medaille would be the first one to score, in the third, whenÂ
Creek Miller (Lakewood, OH, Lakewood) picked off the runner at first base. In the process of a rundown, the runner was tagged out, but not before the runner from third scored, making it 1-0 Medaille.
- In the bottom of the fourth, Bell led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Brown hit a sacrifice fly to right field, driving home Bell and tying the game at one.
- The Mounties added another marker in the fifth, whenÂ
Trap Wentling (Greenville, PA, Greenville) tripled to left-center field, with one out. He would score on a wild pitch, giving the Mounties a 2-1 lead.
- Medaille tied the game, in the seventh inning, when a leadoff single came around to score on two Mountie throwing errors.
- The game's momentum turned whenÂ
Chris Hasse (Johnstown, PA, Westmont Hilltop) came in to get three consecutive outs in the top of the eighth inning, including a strikeout to end the frame. Quade and Iellimo then started off the bottom of the eighth with back-to-back triples, giving the Mounties a 3-2 lead. With one out and Iellimo at third, another Mountie hit parade began. Four consecutive Mounties reached base with a hit, all of which pushed a run across. Mount Aloysius headed to the ninth inning with a 7-2 lead. Hasse finished the game, allowing just one hit in the ninth inning, securing the victory.
Into the Box Scores
- Mount Aloysius had three innings on the day where every batter in the lineup had at least one at-bat. The first and second innings of Game One and the eighth inning in Game Two saw the Mounties bat around.
- Eight Mounties had a multi-hit game, in Game One, as they totaled 23 hits, as a team.
- Mount Aloysius used four pitchers to get through all 16 innings, only allowing two earned runs. Starters, Cannon and Miller, went 13-plus innings, before giving way to the bullpen in each game. Hasse andÂ
Jake Kost (La Plata, MD, Saint Mary's Ryken) each had scoreless performances out of the 'pen.
Up Next

- Mount Aloysius is guaranteed at least two games, as the AMCC Tournament Championship Round is a double-elimination format.
