Women's Tennis Gets First Conference Win Against Pitt-Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. -- Taking the majority of both the singles and doubles flights, the Mount Aloysius women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season with a victory at conference foe Pitt-Bradford on Saturday afternoon, 6-3.

Leaders
- Kendra Sines (Somerset, PA, Somerset), Kierra Mountain (Roaring Spring, PA, Central), and Julia Davis (Mount Pleasant, Pa., Southmoreland ) were solid at the top of the lineup, all winning in both singles and doubles.
- Campbell McCann (Pittsburgh, Pa., Avonworth ) teamed up with Davis to win at #2 doubles.
- Halle Clark (Williamsport, PA, Williamsport) earned her first collegiate victory at the #5 singles position.

How It Happened
- In doubles, Davis and McCann built a commanding lead and then held on for a 8-4 win at the #2 position. Mountain and Sines played a tight match at #1 doubles but came through at the end, defeating Pitt-Bradford 8-6. In #3 doubles, Clark and Ali Lawson (Verona, Pa., Riverview) fought hard but ultimately fell 8-6, resulting in a 2-1 score heading into singles.
- Dual athlete Madison Hillard (Greenville, PA, Greenville)played well in her first-ever singles match but fell 6-3, 6-2 at #6 singles. Sines then got the Mounties on the board in singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory against Maya Schiplick at the top position. Mountain came through at #2 singles, winning a tough first set before her opponent, Madilyn Rodgers, faded in the sun, 7-5, 6-0.
- Davis continued her outstanding start to her rookie campaign, clinching the overall match win with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at #3 singles over Lydia Ehrensberger. 
- Clark rounded out the scoring for the Mounties, with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 win in the #5 position. In the longest match of the day, #4 McCann almost completed the comeback but fell just short in the ten-point deciding tiebreaker, falling 6-3, 6-7(5), 11-9, ending in a final match score of 6-3.

Into the Box Score
- Mountain and Davis are both a perfect 4-0 on the season and have not dropped a set.
