CRESSON, Pa. -- On Thursday, the Mount Aloysius Women's Soccer team hosted Wilson College in a non-conference matchup. The Mounties defeated the Phoenix, 1-0, to earn their first victory of the 2022 season.

Katie Figinski (Abingdon, Md. /Â Edgewood) scored her first goal of the season, to lead the scoring.Â
Jasmine Hinton (Huntingtown, Md. /Â Huntingtown) assisted on the goal, giving her a team-high, seven points on the season.

Mallory Woodward (Huntingdon, Pa. / Huntingdon Area), saved three shots while earning a victory in goal for the Mounties.
How It Happened
- Neither team scored in the first half, with Wilson's 'keeper making three saves and Woodward making two. Mount Aloysius dominated much of the earlier first half and Wilson dominated more late, but neither team could find the back of the net.
- In the second half, Wilson did force Woodward to make another save, in the 70th minute, but could not score.
- With just over two minutes remaining, Hinton got the ball just outside of the box to the right. She made a pass into Figinski, who spun around the defender to find a wide open shot attempt. Figinski slipped it past the goalie to give the Mounties a 1-0 lead. The Mounties held on to secure the victory.

- Both teams had even shot attempts in the first half, with six each. In the second half, Mount Aloysius had a significant advantage, 5-2.
- Wilson did have an advantage in corner kicks, 6-2. Mount Aloysius had just one in each half.
Up Next
- The Mounties will return to action, next Wednesday, when they travel to Allegheny for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
- Allegheny is 1-4-2 on the season after beating Bethany, 2-1.
- This is the first all-time meeting between the two programs.
