CRESSON, Pa. -- On Wednesday, the Mount Aloysius Women's Soccer team hosted Bethany in an early season, non-conference matchup. After a scoreless first half, the Bison scored twice in the second period to down the Mounties, 2-0.
Leaders
- FreshmanÂ
Heidi Patten (Reading, Pa. / Exeter Township) got her first collegiate experience, with a start in goal. She saved 13 shots in the loss.
-Â
Jasmine Hinton (Huntingtown, Md. / Huntingtown) led the Mounties with three shots, having one of them as a shot on goal.
How It Happened
- Patten got into action right from the start, facing her first shot just over a minute into the game and stopping four Bison attempts before the Mounties got a chance. After Hinton's first shot of the game, in the 25th minute, the Bison attempted three more before the end of the half, but were all off-target. The game went into halftime, tied at zero.
- Bethany kept the pressure on to start the second half, taking a shot in the first minute. A short time later, they picked up their first goal, as they forced a timely turnover and made an extra pass inside the box to go up, 1-0.
- Over the next 16-plus minutes, Patten saved six more shots while the Mounties forced one save on the offensive end. In the 66th minute, Bethany scored on a free kick opportunity, just outside the box, giving them a 2-0 lead.
- Mount Aloysius got off two more shots over the remainder of the game, while Patten made one more save, but it was not enough, as they fell, 2-0.
Into the Box Score
- Bethany held a significant offensive advantage for the game. They had a 22-5 advantage in shots, 13-3 in shots on goal, and had four more corner kicks.
- The only item in the box score that was comparable was fouls, as both teams had 13 for the game.
