CRESSON, Pa. -- On Saturday, the Mount Aloysius Men's Basketball team fought a tightly-contested, overtime battle against Hilbert. The thriller came down to the final second, before the Hawks made two free throws to take an 84-83 victory.

Will Hagwood (Willowick, Ohio / South)Â led the Mounties with 25 points, as he played all 45 minutes of action. He also added six rebounds and a team-high, four assists.

How It Happened
- The Mounties started strong, scoring the first seven points of the game, during the first two-plus minutes. They held a 14-8 advantage after a
Jason Coronado (Orlando, Fla. / Ocoee)Â three-pointer, before the Hawks took control. Hilbert would outscore the Mounties by 11 over the final 15 minutes of the period to take a 41-34 advantage at the half.
- Mount Aloysius worked slowly to cut away at the Hawks lead, finally taking a lead of their own a 66-65, with just over six minutes remaining. The teams traded the lead three more times in the final minutes of regulation, with Junior tying the game at 73, with a post move with just under a minute on the clock.
- In overtime, the teams again traded the lead back and forth. In the final minute,
Joel Lonigro (Connellsville, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic)Â made a driving layup to take an 81-80 lead, but Hilbert answered with a jumper at the other end to return the favor.
Xavier Johnson (Nassau, The Bahamas / Queens College) then gave the Mounties an 83-82 lead on a layup with just under 10 seconds remaining. The Hawks went down to call a timeout and followed it by missing a shot and getting an offensive rebound. On the rebound, a foul was called during the putback chance, giving the Hawks two free throws with .3 seconds remaining. Nevada Eldridge made both free throws for Hilbert, giving them the 84-83 victory.
