CRESSON, Pa. -- On Saturday, the Mount Aloysius Women's Basketball team played host to Hilbert in an AMCC matchup. Despite a late push, the Mounties fell in a tightly contested, 53-49 game.

How It Happened
- The first quarter was a low-scoring affair, as the teams went a combined 7-for-25 and only made two point baskets. After the Hawks went up 6-2, the Mounties scored the final six points of the period to lead 8-6 at the first break.
- Both teams saw had a lead in the second quarter, with Hilbert owning a five-point advantage for the biggest lead, at 16-12. Mount Aloysius committed a costly turnover right before halftime, which led to a foul and a 22-20 Hilbert lead at the half.
- In the third quarter, the Mounties came out firing and scored the first seven points of the period. Contributions came from all areas, as the first four baskets were all scored by different Mounties. Following a Clemons layup that gave the Mounties a 31-28 lead, Hilbert scored the next eight points to grab a five-point lead. They would hold a five-point advantage heading into the final period, 38-33.
- Each team traded runs in the fourth quarter, while the Mounties were able to tie the game multiple times, they were unable to grab a lead. Down four with just over two minutes remaining, Mount Aloysius was able to come up with multiple stops that allowed them to tie the game. The first came on a pass ahead to Jenkins where she finished to cut the lead to two. After a Hilbert timeout in the final minute, Mercier stripped the ball-handler near half-court and tied the game with a layup and just over 20 seconds remaining. Hilbert scored on an offensive rebound, giving the Mounties one chance to tie, but they were unable to get a shot off and ultimately fell, 53-49.
