Mounties Put Forth Strong Defensive Effort in Loss to Lions

CRESSON, Pa. -- On Saturday, the Mount Aloysius Women's Basketball team hosted Penn State Behrend in an AMCC contest. Despite a solid effort defensively, the Mounties fell, 81-49.

Leaders
- Chloe Clemons (Kailua, Hawaii / Kalaheo) and China Jenkins (Fort Myers, Fla. / Evangelical Christian School) each scored 16 points, to lead the Mounties. Jenkins grabbed a team-high, eight rebounds, and picked up four steals. Clemons hauled in five rebounds and had three steals.

How It Happened
- The Mounties started strong defensively, forcing four consecutive Lion turnovers to begin the contest. Unfortunately, the Mounties struggled with turnovers and cold shooting, while falling behind 21-5.
- In the second quarter, the Mounties continued to give the Lions trouble on offense. Penn State Behrend went 4-for-22 in the second quarter, while scoring just 10 points. Mount Aloysius played even with the Lions in the period, also scoring ten points, with four different Mounties tallying points.
- Penn State Behrend used a massive 31 point quarter to open the second half. Mount Aloysius committed ten turnovers in the period, including the final four possessions. All four turnovers led to points, as the Lions extended their lead.
- Over the final period, Penn State Behrend outscored the Mounties 19-18. The Mounties held the Lions to 33% shooting in the quarter, including a 2-for-8 mark from three. Mount Aloysius knocked down four triples, with three coming from Clemons and the other from Molly Richards (Naples, Fla. / Naples).

Into the Box Score
- Penn State Behrend came into the game ranked in the top ten nationally in points per game (82.1), field goal percentage (44.9), and three-point percentage (36.8). Mount Aloysius held them under all three of those numbers, as they shot 35% from the field and 24% from behind the arc.
- Clemons scored in double-digits for the fourth time in the last five games, scoring 18 points. She 6-for-13 from the field and 4-for-8 from three-point range.
