Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Mountie Soccer Falls to Penn State Behrend

Erie, Pa. -- Mount Aloysius men's and women's soccer each suffered conference losses today, with both teams losing to Penn State Behrend on Saturday, October 7th.

Women's Game

How It Happened:

- The visiting Mounties fell behind early, struggling to defend against constant possession and pressure from their hosts.
- Penn State Behrend managed four goals in thirteen shots in the opening thirty minutes of play, carving out a sizable deficit before Natalie Despot (Hollidaysburg, Pa., Hollidaysburg) was able to make the opening Mount Aloysius shot attempt.
- Mount Aloysius was able to fight off the last four Behrend shots of the half, going into the second down 0-4.
- The second half was reminiscent of the first, with Jasmine Hinton (Huntingtown, MD, Huntingtown) taking the only Mountie shot attempt of the half.
- While Mount Aloysius was able to defend effectively through the first thirty minutes of the half, Behrend broke through as the match winded down, putting two more in to take the game 6-0 over the visitors.

Into The Box Score:

- Penn State Behrend dominated shot attempts, recording twenty one to the Mounties' two.
- Goalkeeper Madison Cabell (Altoona, Pa., Altoona) recorded all four of the Mountie saves.
- Both teams stayed relatively even on fouls committed, with the visitors recording ten to the hosts' twelve.

Men's Game

How It Happened:

- Although the Mounties would record the first shot attempt of the game, it was Penn State Behrend who would put in the sole goal of the contest, scoring in the 19th minute.
- Mount Aloysius pushed back strongly, shooting eleven times throughout the half, five of which came from header attempts on crosses through the goal box.
- Despite Manuel Prats (Madrid, Spain, International School of Madrid) putting one on target, a Behrend save would neutralize the Mounties best effort, with the half closing 1-0 to the hosts.
- Back and forth offense checkered the second half, with both teams playing a fast-paced style to generate looks.
Gonzalo Terricabris (Catalonia, Spain, Garbi Pere Verges) would record the only Mountie shot on goal of the half in the first three minutes.
- An 81st minute Sean Barrant (Portmore, Jamaica, Jonathan Grant) attempt would sail high, marking the final shot of the game as the pace slowed with Behrend finding a more possessive style to close.
- One last corner kick attempt would yield no results for the Mounties, as the match ended 1-0 to Penn State Behrend.

Into The Box Score:

- Despite eighteen total shots compared to their opponents' ten, the Mounties struggled with accuracy, recording just two shots on goal.
- Goalkeeper Luke Priestley (Edlesborough, England, Aylesbury Grammar School) recorded three saves for the contest.
- The Mounties gained six corner kick opportunities to Behrend's two, but struggled to convert off those attempts.
